Rear-Admiral John Harry Kay Clegg, O.B.E., R.N. (24 July, 1884 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.

Life & Career

Clegg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1906.

Clegg was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1914. In June of 1914, he was lent to the Royal Canadian Navy for two years, taking command of Niobe.

Clegg came back early, being sent to Portsmouth on 4 May 1915 to await an appointment. On 30 June, he went to Lord Nelson to serve as Flag Lieutenant-Commander on the staff of R/A Christian.

Clegg was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.

Post-War

Clegg was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1925.

Clegg was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 18 July, 1936 and placed on the Retired List the following day in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 9 March, 1914. He was granted permission to reside in South Africa.
