Captain John Catterall Leach, M.V.O., D.S.O., R.N. (1 September, 1894 – 10 December, 1941) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Great War
Leach was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant on 30 December, 1914.[1]
Leach was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 December, 1915.[2]
Leach was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 December, 1923.[3]
Leach was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1928.[4]
Leach was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1933.[5]
World War II
Leach died in command of the battleship H.M.S. Prince of Wales when she was sunk by Japanese aircraft. He was her only commander.
