Revision as of 15:24, 13 December 2018

Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. John Anderson, ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

I think several men are being confused here. I have commented out some content on men other than the person engaged in minesweeping in the Great War.

Life & Career

Anderson was made Lieutenant R.N.R. on 15 December, 1914.[1]

Anderson was trained in paddle minesweepers in early 1916.[2]

Lingfield collided with the paddle minesweeper Chelmsford on 4 November 1917 and Anderson was told to be more careful in future.[3]

Lingfield collided with the destroyer Violet on 31 March 1918 and Anderson was told to be more careful in future.[4]

Oddly, Anderson was removed from command of Lingfield after he'd broken windows at Dover in some act of misconduct, perhaps c 11 May 1918. The police were involved.[5]

Demobilised on 22 December 1919.[6]
