I mentioned to him the delay in publication and am seeing him again next week, when I intend to go into the question of alterations in the report.  I shall not of course say where I heard of [438] them, but many people have spoken to me on the subject.  I may ask to see the original report.  Captain Harper told me that the erasures were only thinly ruled through and I could easily see what was said in the original.  I understand that von Scheer's report is to be published.

My Dear Frewen,

Many thanks for your letter.

It was kind of you to write. I went to the Admiralty yesterday to pay my official call & knocked up against Captain Harper in the passage, very angry with the Daily Mail for an attack on him. I have not seen the article, as that is a paper I do not read. I fancy the First Lord is taking up the matter in the House.

What a mine of wealth this publication will be to those so-called naval experts to write articles for money!! . . .

yours sincerely,

[Signed] JELLICOE
