Lieutenant-Commander (retired) James George Ost, R.N. (28 October, 1856 – 27 July, 1918) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Ost was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 April, 1903.
Ost was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 6 February, 1908.
Retired due to age on 28 October 1911, Ost's appointment to Vernon was to continue, first for six months and then an additional three years.
Ost was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 6 February, 1916.
Ost was appointed to the Portsmouth Signal School on 20 June, 1917 for examination of torpedo and electrical stores, including wireless telegraphy equipment. On 14 January, 1918 he was reported sick with hemoplagia. His appointment was terminated on 30 January, and he apparently died at home on 27 July, 1918.
