Admiral Hugh Rodman, K.C.B. (6 January, 1859 – 7 June, 1940) served in the United States Navy.

Life & Career

In 1909, Rodman went to the Far East to serve Captain of the Yard, Cavite and then served as captain of the protected cruiser Cleveland.

After serving in 1911 as Captain of the Yard, Mare Island Navy Yard, he assumed command of Connecticut in 1912. In 1913, he took command of Delaware.

In 1915 he was appointed in command of the battleship New York.

Flag Rank

Promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral in 1917, Rodman served as Commander of Battleship Division 9, Atlantic Fleet. Late in the year, his division was ordered to cross the Atlantic to join the British Grand Fleet, thereby becoming the Sixth Battle Squadron.
