Vice-Admiral Hubert Seeds Monroe, D.S.O., Royal Navy, Retired (4 November, 1877 – 15 July, 1966) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Monroe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1900.[1]

He was appointed in command of the destroyer Dasher on 3 August, 1906.[2]

On 14 April, 1913, he was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 113.[3]

On 15 October 1918, he assumed command of the old second class protected cruiser Venus as flag captain to Rear-Admiral Gaunt.[4]

He was appointed in command of Thunderer in September, 1925.[5]

He was appointed in command of the battleship H.M.S. Barham in December, 1927,[6] remaining with her for just two months, at which time he assumed command of Ramillies.[7]

Monroe was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 6 August, 1929, vice A. K. Betty.[8] He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 31 July, 1934.[9]
