Captain Herbert Roxby, M.V.O. (9 February, 1848 – 5 December, 1905) served in the Navigating Branch of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Roxby was promoted to the rank of Navigating Lieutenant on 10 May, 1875.[1]

Roxby was appointed to the Portsmouth flagship Asia for the corvette Bacchante on 10 May, 1877. He was lent to the ironclad Glatton on 10 June, 1878, and returned to the Bacchante on 27 August.[2]

He oversaw an engine trial of first-class torpedo boat T.B. 2 on 23 December, 1878, effectively serving as her commanding officer.[3]

Roxby was promoted to the rank of Staff Commander on 13 February, 1887.[4]

Roxby was promoted to the rank of Captain on the Retired List on 22 February, 1899.[5]
