Commander (retired) Herbert Edward Walter Christian Whyte (2 September, 1882 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Whyte was born in London. He gained three months' time on passing out of Britannia in mid-September 1898 and was appointed to join the battleship Magnificent in the Channel Squadron.
Whyte was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1903.[1]
Whyte was appointed in command of the destroyer Zebra on 17 June, 1909.[2]
Whyte was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1911.[3]
On 18 December, 1912, Whyte was appointed in command of the destroyer Fawn.[4]
Post-War
Whyte was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 2 June, 1920.
Whyte was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 2 September, 1922.
