Herbert Algernon Adam
Captain Herbert Algernon Adam, C.B.E., Royal Navy (3 January, 1872 – 27 September, 1920) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life
Adam was the younger son of the Reverend Benjamin W. Adam, D.D., of the Rectory, Bantry, Co. Dublin.[1]
In September 1911, he assumed command of the second class protected cruiser Dido.[2]
He was appointed captain of H.M.S. Jupiter in October 1912, remaining there until the turn of the year.[3]
Adam served as captain of the battleship Vengeance from January 1913[4] until 1 May, 1914, when he was appointed to command the battleship Queen on 1 May, 1914.[5]
Great War
Adam was appointed to command the heavy cruiser Cornwall on 5 July, 1917.[6]
He was appointed to command the light cruiser Neptune on 10 January, 1919.[7]
Adams died "suddenly" on 27 September, 1920 at the age of forty-eight.[1]
