In June 1918, she transferred to the Twentieth Destroyer Flotilla, operating out of the Humber.[7]

She and Ariel were lost to mines on the night of 1 August, 1918. Vehement's captain, Lieutenant in Command Vernon Hammersley-Heenan, was blown 400 yards from the vessel by the blast but survived with moderate injuries.[8]
