H.M.S. Lively was one of twenty-four "B" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".

Service

In late 1904, Lively collided with Haughty during manoeuvres. Commander Charles Penrose Rushton Coode was admonished over the incident, though his connection to the misadventure is not clear. Perhaps he was in charge of the flotilla.[8]

Lively paid off at Malta on 30 December, 1904.[9]

The destroyer was docked at Sheerness on 20 August, 1906 to repair damage sustained in a collision.[10]
