H.M.S. Esk was one of twelve Medina Class flatiron gunboats completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In March 1883, Esk was at Hong Kong, with Gunner Henry D. Capper appointed to her from 23 February, 1881, though he was borne in Victor Emanuel and was not noted as being "in Command".[3]

In mid-1884, Esk was at Hong Kong, with Gunner William Sledge appointed to her, though he was borne in Victor Emanuel and was not noted as being "in Command".

Re-commissioned at Ichang on 30 January, 1898.[4]
