H.M.S. Basilisk was one of two Beagle Class screw sloops completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Basilisk commissioned at Sheerness on 24 June, 1890.[7] She was sent to relieve Cdr. H. C. Bigge's composite gun-vessel Flamingo, which was then to return to England to be dismantled.[8]

Nymphe's captain was thought to have been at fault after she collided with the Basilisk around early 1901.
