H.M.S. Active was one of eleven "A" Class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Active was commissioned at Portsmouth on 10 April, 1930.[1]

On 4 April, 1932, Active collided with her sister-ship Achates. Their Lordships informed Captain (D) Miles that "he must be held very seriously to blame for a grave error of judgment."[2]

Active was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 19 October, 1932.[3]

The destroyer re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 23 July, 1935.[4]

Active was commissioned at Malta on 23 February, 1937.[5]
