Captain (retired) George Holbrow Lang, D.S.O., R.N. (5 October, 1881 – 15 June, 1952) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Sterling, the son of Reverend J. P. Lang. Lang was educated at Conway before being put through Britannia

Lang was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1902.

Lang was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1910.

Lang was appointed to the light cruiser Weymouth on 26 October, 1911 and served in her through mid-1916. He promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1914 and re-appointed to the cruiser.

On 17 June 1916, he was appointed in command of the old destroyer Kestrel.

Post-War

Lang was promoted to the rank of Captain on 5 October, 1927.

World War II

Mobilised on 28 September, 1938. Lang was sent to Cochrane, additional, as E.D.O.[?] on 25 August, 1939. He seemingly remained there the entire war. He reverted to the Retired List on 29 November, 1945.
