Captain (retired) George Charles Frederick, C.B.E. (2 August, 1855 – 5 January, 1951) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Frederick spoke French very well. Late in his career, R/A Stimson would write that Frederick's "invariable courtesy" and tact earned him "a very high esteem".

Frederick was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 16 April, 1879.[1]

Frederick was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1893. As a commander, he worked with the Hydrographer of the Navy, first as a surveying officer and then being appointed Chief Civil Assistant to the Hydrographer on 18 June, 1897 vice George William Underhill.[2]

Frederick was placed on the Retired List on 30 January, 1901.[3]

Frederick was appointed to a position overseeing shipping in Liverpool in August of 1914. Though not much is recorded of his contributions, he was awarded a C.B.E. for services in connection with the War, gazetted 7 January, 1918.[4]

Post-War

Frederick was promoted to the rank of Captain on the Retired List some time in 1919, reverting to the Retired List on 1 May, 1919.[5]
