Commander Francis George Glossop, R.N., Retired (9 September, 1887 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Reverent G. H. P. Glossop was born in Holmhurst, St. Albans.
Glossop was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1909.
Glossop was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the destroyer Conflict on 22 August, 1914.[1]
Glossop commanded the destroyer Hydra at the Battle of Jutland, operating with the First Destroyer Flotilla.[2]
Glossop was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1917.
Glossop was appointed in command of the destroyer Westminster on 25 March, 1918.[3]
Glossop was placed on the Retired List with a gratuity on 17 May, 1920 and was subsequently promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 9 September, 1927.
