Captain (retired) Francis Evelyn Massy-Dawson, D.S.O. (9 September, 1872 – 12 February, 1939) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Massy-Dawson placed first in order of merit upon passing out of Britannia in December, 1887. This made him the third successive cadet prepped at Stubbington House School to do this.[1]

Massy-Dawson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 January, 1894.[2]

Massy-Dawson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1904.[3]

Massy-Dawson was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 12 March, 1912. He was called up for the war and served as the Mobilising Officer of the Tralwer Reserve at Grimsby from 30 July, 1914. On 23 September, they added command of the sailing vessel Pekin to his plate. He was also made Senior Naval Officer of some place that is not legible, perhaps in 1918.[4]

He was reverted to the Retired List on his relief at Grimsby in March, 1919. In mid-1925, he went bankrupt.[5]
