Captain Eric Wheeler Bush, D.S.O.**, D.S.C. (12 August, 1899 – ) served in the Royal Navy. On 14 March, 1916 he would become the youngest recipient of the D.S.C. in history and he would later serve in H.M.S. Revenge at the Battle of Jutland.

Life & Career

Bush passed out of the Training Establishment upon the outbreak of war, aged just fifteen. He was appointed to the armoured cruiser Bacchante until 10 February 1916, and then was sent to H.M.S. Excellent for gunnery training. After that, he joined Revenge and served in her until January 1919.[1]

Bush was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1920.[2]

Bush was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1928.[3]

Bush was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1933.[4]

Bush was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1939.[5]

World War II

Captain of Euryalus from 31 March, 1941 to 15 August, 1943.[6]

He was placed on the Retired List on 10 July, 1948.[7]
