Captain (retired) Colpoys Cleland Walcott, C.B.E., R.N. (31 July, 1878 – 29 April, 1961) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Maidenhead, the son of L. R. S. Walcott, Esq..[1]

Walcott was specially promoted to the rank of Lieutenant for his services in China, with seniority of 9 November, 1900. He proved himself good at gymnastics.[2]

Noted by Commodore Eustace as a "splendid organiser" and "one of the very best officers I have met in the service", Walcott was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1912.[3]

Walcott was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 21 February, 1914.[4]

Walcott was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of wartime service, dated 11 November, 1918.[5]
