Arthur William Taylor, R.N.R. ( – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Taylor was made a temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 17 January, 1916 and was immediately appointed to a five week course in minesweeping. By mid-February, he was appointed to a paddle minesweeper Mercury.

After a short course in gunnery, he was appointed to Croxton on 11 May 1916.

On 25 April 1917 he was cautioned after Croxton collided with the trawler Remexo[?].

Taylor was found to blame and cautioned for a 15 August 1917 collision with the paddle minesweeper Melton. He was praised, however, for his good conduct in command when he rescued men of the destroyer Thruster.

On 28 October 1918 he was appointed in command of the paddle minesweeper Atherstone and as Senior Officer in the Ninth Fleet Sweeping Flotilla.

Taylor was demobilised on 9 July 1919, eight days after being superseded in command of the minesweeper Dartmoor.
