Rear-Admiral (retired) Arthur Edmund Wood, C.M.G., Royal Navy (23 February, 1875 – 30 January, 1961) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Wood was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1896.

Wood was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1907.

Wood left Alert and took command of Northbrook on 17 August, 1914.

Wood was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1915 and re-appointed in command of Northbrook.

He was superseded in command of Northbrook on 3 February, 1916.

Wood was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Apollo on 1 September, 1917, and as Captain (D) of the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla.[1]

Post-War

Placed on Retired List at own request on 22 June 1922.

Wood was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral in August, 1926.

World War II

Wood was informed that he was not fit for sea service and could not be employed as a Commodore of Convoys.
