H.M.S. Sandfly was one of 29 destroyers of the Acheron class.

Radio

She was one of 18 Acheron class destroyers fitted with W/T in 1912, becoming one of 123 destroyers so far fitted with Destroyer Sets.[6]

Service

In mid-1913, she was with the First Destroyer Flotilla.[7]

In 1918, the ship was sent to the Twentieth Destroyer Flotilla, fitted as a minelayer in the "Slow Division".[8]

She was rammed by the Telemachus in thick fog and had her boiler room flooded, requiring an arduous, thirty-six hour tow to harbour.[9]

Reduced to C. & M. Party at Devonport, 15 October, 1919.[10]
