Commander Alexander Herbert Macleod Burton, R.N., Retired (7 May, 1884 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Norwich.

Burton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1906.

Burton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1914.

Burton was appointed in command of the monitor M.19 on 18 May, 1918.[1]

Post-War

Burton was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 8 May, 1920 and informed that he would be eligible for a step in rank upon reaching the age of 40.

Accordingly, he was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 7 May, 1924.
