H.M.S. Vanoc was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.
Service
In August, 1917, Vanoc was assigned to the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla.[5]
She was reduced to Reserve at Devonport on 5 February, 1920.[6]
She paid off on 7 November, 1923.[7]
She was commissioned at Portsmouth on 17 November, 1925.[8]
Re-commissioned on 31 August, 1933.[9]
In 1934, her bell was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at the price of £5 or perhaps £1. Interested parties were to write the Director of Stores and were urged to include any special information which might convey the importance they attach to the bell, in light of the Admiralty's understanding that such items carry great sentimental value.[10]
She was comissioned for trials at Chatham with special complement on 3 September 1935 under Lt. Cdr. John Bostock.[11]
Re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 22 September 1936 for service in the Gibraltar Local Defence Flotilla.[12]
