She was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 3 May, 1923 and joined the First Destroyer Flotilla with the Atlantic Fleet.[7]
She was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 9 November, 1926 and joined the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla with the Atlantic Fleet.[8]

Vortigern was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 11 November, 1930 for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla with the Home Fleet.[10]
She re-commissioned on 11 January, 1933 for service with 5 D.F..[11]
In 1934, her bell was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at the price of £5 or perhaps £1. Interested parties were to write the Director of Stores and were urged to include any special information which might convey the importance they attach to the bell, in light of the Admiralty's understanding that such items carry great sentimental value.[12]
She was transferred to the Reserve Fleet at Portsmouth on 15 November, 1934.[13]
