Jump to navigationJump to searchVice-Admiral (retired) Orford Churchill (24 December, 1842 – 1909) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Churchill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 March, 1866.
He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 14 January, 1881.
Churchill was appointed in command of the composite screw sloop Wanderer on 1 May, 1884.[1]
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 14 November, 1887.
Churchill commanded ships during the Annual Manoeuvres of 1890, 1892 and 1893.
He was appointed in command of the second class battleship Nile on 1 February, 1896.
Churchill was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 15 June, 1901.
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 22 July, 1905.
