Admiral Charles Pipon Beaty-Pownall, C.M.G., Royal Navy, Retired (1 January, 1872 – 17 August, 1938) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

On 21 July, 1892 he was confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, dated 14 August, 1891.[1]

Beaty-Pownall was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1905.[2]

He was appointed in command of Perseus on 26 February, 1910.[3]

He was appointed in command of the first class protected cruiser Terrible on 13 August, 1912, remaining in her until New Year's Day, 1913.[4]

Beaty-Pownall was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1913.[5]

Beaty-Pownall was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Doris on 6 September, 1913.[6]

On 15 May 1914, he was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Challenger.[7]

Upon leaving Challenger, he was appointed in command of Cumberland on 27 November, 1914.[8]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Colossus on 15 November, 1917.[9]

Beaty-Pownall was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 5 April, 1928, vice Field.[10] He was placed on the Retired List on 6 April.[11] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 13 October, 1932.[12]
