Commander Arthur Edward Phillipps, R.N. (20 June, 1872 – 21 October, 1905) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Phillipps was promoted to the rank of Midshipman with seniority of 15 November, 1887.[1]

Phillipps was promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant with seniority of 14 November, 1891.

Phillipps was appointed Sub-Lieutenant in Command of T.B. 73 for the Annual Manoeuvres of 1893.

Phillipps was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 14 November, 1893.

Plans to have Phillipps command T.B. 80 and provide torpedo duties for the Devonport Flotilla in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1901 appear to have been re-considered, as this boat is not mentioned in the official debriefing report.[2]

Phillipps served in Victorious from January 1904. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 30 June, 1904 and was possibly loaned to command a boat in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1904, but he died when a piece of machinery being hoisted out of the stranded Assistance fell and struck him on the head in October 1905.
