Lieutenant-Commander (retired) John Clark Soady, (25 March, 1867 – 28 April, 1916) served in the Royal Navy.

His father, also named John Clark Soady, was a flag officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Soady was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1891.[1]

On 30 July 1896, Soady was removed from Colossus for disreputable conduct on shore at Holyhead.[2]

Soady was placed on the Retired List on 15 October, 1898 in accordance with the provision of Order in Council of 3 August, 1897 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1899.[3]

Soady served as he could in the war, seemingly at his wife and step-daughter's behests. He was not in good health. Soady died of cirrhosis of the lungs at Malta at 11am 28 April, 1916. He was buried at Plymouth Cemetery on 3 May 1916.[4]
