H.M.S. Velox was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.

There was an earlier destroyer named Velox.

Service

Velox was commissioned on 14 March, 1918[6] and immediately joined the Dover Patrol's Sixth Destroyer Flotilla.[7]

She was re-commissioned on 3 May, 1923. By March 1925, she was with First Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[8]

She was commissioned on 6 January, 1926.[9]

Velox was paid off into Dockyard Control on 14 December, 1928.[10]

She re-commissioned at Chatham on 18 November, 1930 for work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[11]

Re-commissioned on 11 January, 1933 for work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla.[12]

She was re-commissioned in Reserve on 2 October 1934.[13]

Commissioned at Chatham on 16 November 1936 to be transferred to the Reserve Fleet at The Nore.[14]
