Admiral Edward Harpur Gamble, C.B., Royal Navy (6 September, 1849 – 17 November, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Gamble was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 3 September, 1872.[1]
Gamble was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1884.[2]
Gamble was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1891.[3]
Gamble was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 26 June, 1902.[4]
Flag Rank
Gamble succeeded Rear-Admiral Robinson in command of the Devonport Reserve Division on 3 January, 1906.[5] He was relieved on 3 January, 1907 by Rear-Admiral Harry S. F. Niblett.[6] He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 11 April, 1908, vice Drury.[7]
He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 18 September, 1911, vice Robinson, and, in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, was placed on the Retired List on 19 September.[8]
