THE HONOURABLE Captain George Arthur Hardinge, R.N. (1 September, 1864 – 28 July, 1910) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in South Park, Penshurst, Kent.
Hardinge was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 August, 1885.[1]
On 14 March, 1894, Hardinge was informed that "he as incurred Their Lordships' severe displeasure for impertinent language [to his] commanding officer" and that he was to be removed as first lieutenant in Pelican to be in Cleopatra.[2]
Hardinge was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1900.[3]
He was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Æolus on 4 July, 1905.[4]
Hardinge was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1906.[5]
Hardinge was appointed in command of the battleship Ramillies in 1907.
He was appointed in command of the armoured cruiser Donegal on 1 February, 1908.[6]
Hardinge was retired as unfit for service on 4 October, 1909. He would die within the year.[7]
