Admiral Charles Ferdinand Henderson, Royal Navy, Retired (7 March, 1866 – 15 July, 1935) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1901.[1]
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1906.[2]
He was appointed command of Crescent on 22 October, 1907.[3]
Great War
On 2 October, 1917, Ferdinand was appointed Captain of the Dockyard and Deputy Superintendent and King's Harbour Master at Rosyth Royal Dockyard.[4]
He was succeeded as Captain of the Dockyard by Captain Harry M. K. Betty on 1 April, 1919.[5]
Henderson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral, vice Eustace, on 25 August, 1918. He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 26 August.[6] His future in the Navy had been decided at a meeting of the Board of Admiralty on 15 June, when all five Sea Lords voted that he be retired on promotion to Flag Rank under Section III of the Order-in-Council of 9 March, 1914.[7]
Retirement
He was promoted to Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 1 November, 1923.[8] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 August, 1927.[9]
