Lieutenant R.N.R. Bernard Coles (29 August, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve and the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.

Life & Career

On 5 January 1916, Coles was appointed to the destroyer Murray of the Tenth Destroyer Flotilla. He continued to serve in her until being promoted to the rank of Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 28 January, 1917. He was then assigned to the destroyer Forester, in which he served until May 1918.[1]

Coles was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 044 on 14 May, 1918.[2][3]

Coles was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 28 January, 1919. He was demobilised on 20 April, 1920, postdated to 19 June, 1920.[4]

After some time working in trawlers in early 1919, Coles transferred to the permanent list of the R.N.V.R. as a Lieutenant with seniority of 5 August, 1919, attached to the London Division.
