H.M.S. Racehorse was one of forty "C" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy — a "30 knotter".
Trials
Racehorse completed her steam trials on 17 December, 1901. On her full-speed trial she obtained 30.354 knots on the measured mile, and averaged 30.345 knots over three hours.[8]
Service
In late 1905, she was one of eight destroyers in the Second Division of the Channel Fleet's Destroyer Flotilla.[9]
In mid-1913, Racehorse was active with Sixth Destroyer Flotilla — a patrol flotilla.[10]
