H.M.S. Neptune was one of five Leander Class light cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
Completed to Full Complement at Portsmouth on 24 February, 1934.[5]
Neptune sank after striking four mines in the Mediterranean. Only one man survived in the end.

- Captain Henry R. Moore, 24 November, 1933 – December, 1935 (remained afterward as a Commodore, First Class serving as C.O.S. to Admiral Backhouse)
- Captain Denham M. T. Bedford, 14 December, 1935[6] – 19 July, 1937
- Captain John A. V. Morse, 19 July, 1937 – 24 May, 1940
- Captain Rory C. O'Conor, May, 1940[7] – 19 December, 1941[8] (killed when vessel lost)
