Life & Career
From 19 August to 11 November, 1913, Donovan was 4th Mate in R.M.S. Lusitania of the Cunard line.[1]
Donovan was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 13 June, 1915. He served from late February to 18 November of that year in the battleship Superb. From January to June 1916 he was in T.B. 072.[2]
He commanded the "C" Class destroyer Vixen from June, 1916 until 31 July, 1917. He collided with submarine J 5 in September 1916, and was cautioned to be more careful in future.[3]

He commanded her until she entered an extended period of refit on 1 March, 1918, at which point he was remained in charge. He was faulted for "certain damage sustained" by the ship on 13 March.[4]

He was removed from the Retired List due to non-report on 14 November, 1938.[6]
