H.M.S. Glory was a pre-dreadnought battleship of the Canopus Class in the Royal Navy completed in 1900.
Construction
On 11 March, 1899 Glory was floated out at Messrs. Laird's yard at Birkenhead. Due to the recent death of William Laird, the ceremony was kept as simple and quiet as possible, but a large crowd of people were gathered to witness the christening of the ship. Glory was christened by Mrs. John M. Laird.
Service
She recommissioned at Sheerness on 15 April, 1913 for service in the Third Fleet.[6]
In 1920, she was renamed Crescent and became port depot ship for Rosyth, bearing a great many additional officers for duties ranging from boom defence to various "special service".[7]
Radio
In 1901, while serving in the China Squadron, she had or was slated to receive a Marconi W/T kit.[8]
