Admiral SIR William Munro Kerr, K.B.E., C.B., Royal Navy (4 March, 1876 – 26 October, 1959) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Kerr graduated from Britannia in December, 1890 and was appointed to masted turret ship Inflexible, arriving there on 18 March, 1892. Duty in Ramillies and Revenge followed in 1893 and 1894.[1]
He was made an acting Sub-Lieutenant on 15 December, 1895 while serving in the corvette Volage. He was qualified for navigation duties by 1897, when he applied those skills in the training brig Seaflower, the in the gunboat Ringdove in 1898.[2]
Kerr was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1898[3] and was appointed to Pandora as navigator on 16 July, 1901.[4]
He was promoted to Commander on 31 December, 1910.[5]
Kerr was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1915.[6]
Kerr was appointed as Captain of the Dockyard and King's Harbour Master at Rosyth on 2 April, 1921 until being superseded by Captain Archibald Cochrane, C.M.G., on 30 October, 1923.[7]
