Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) William Henry Dunster, R.D. (16 March, 1882 – 19 February, 1946) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Dunster was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 2 August, 1915.[1]

On 17 February, 1918, Captain (D), Ninth Destroyer Flotilla Alan Cameron Bruce recommended Dunster for command of a "P" boat. Dunster was accordingly appointed in command of the patrol boat P47 on 5 March, 1918.[2]

In 1918, he received an adverse evaluation for being drunk. Quarterly reports were required to follow-up, but at the end of the year, Captain (D), Sixth Destroyer Flotilla W. Tomkinson gave a satisfactory evaluation.[3]

Post-War

Dunster was demobilised on 27 August 1919 and awarded an R.D. in 1921. He retired on 7 September 1922.

Dunster was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) on 2 August, 1923.[4]

World War II

Mobilised for a mere three days from 30 September, 1938 as N.C.S. San Francisco.[5]
