Lieutenant-Commander (retired) William Harry Patchen, R.N. (8 July, 1873 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Patchen was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 5 May, 1900.
Patchen was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 86 on 27 November, 1913.[1]
Patchen was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 5 May, 1915.
Post-War
Patchen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1922.
World War II
Patchen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 1 September, 1942.
As late as February, 1944, Patchen was working as a transport officer and Captain R. D. Oliver wrote of him, "he has a great reputation as manager of the Whale Island Football Team."
He reverted to the Retired List on 22 October, 1944.
