Admiral SIR William Fane de Salis, K.B.E., M.V.O., Royal Navy, Retired (21 July, 1858 – 23 January, 1939) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

De Salis was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1895, at the age of thirty-six years, eleven months, and nine days.[1]

Captain

De Salis was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1901.[2]

De Salis was appointed to the Juno on 26 January, 1904.[3]

On 22 June, 1909, De Salis was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King Edward VII, vice King-Hall.[4]

Flag Rank

De Salis was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 2 March, 1913.[5]

Great War

On 6 March, 1915, De Salis was granted a temporary Commission as a Captain in the Royal Naval Reserve.[6]

Post-War

De Salis was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 1 January, 1919.[7]

He was knighted and appointed a Knight Commander in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) on 30 December, 1922.[8]
