Midshipman Walter Leslie Rundle, ( – 22 June, 1869) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Rundle was appointed to Minotaur on 12 April, 1867, and died died as a Midshipman on full pay in mid-1869.

Newspapers reports indicate that he was appointed to Endymion, additional,[1] and then to the wooden screw corvette Scylla, additional[2] in late May 1869.

He died on 22 June due to disease, which introduces some doubt as to where he was, exactly, at the time of death. Minotaur, if he was in her, was flagship in the Channel Squadron at the time.

Rundle's shipmates erected a plaque in All Saints Church, Highweek, Devon noting his date of death. It sits alongside Captain Joseph Sparkhall Rundle, d. 1880, and Commander Walter Wemyss Leslie, d. 1863.[3]
