Commander Vaughan Alexander Edward Hanning-Lee, D.S.O., O.B.E., Royal Navy (1 October, 1878 – 27 May, 1949) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hanning-Lee was born in Winchester, son of Lieutenant-Commander Hanning-Lee of 7 Devonshire Place in London.[1]

Hanning-Lee was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in December, 1900.[2]

Hanning-Lee was appointed in command of the destroyer Sylvia on 1 August, 1905.[3]

He was appointed in command of the destroyer Boxer on 10 July, 1907.[4]

Hanning-Lee was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in December, 1908.[5]

He married Blanche Mary Fowler on 26 January, 1917.[6]

Hanning-Lee was promoted to the rank of Commander and placed on the Retired List at his own request on 26 April, 1920.[7]

He died on 27 May, 1949 of an embolism, auricular fibrillation and arterio sclerosis.[8]
