U.S.S. Whipple was one of three Truxtun class destroyers completed for the U.S. Navy.

Service

Whipple was commissioned on 17 February, 1903 with Lieutenant Jehu V. Chase in command.

In early 1904, she was one of six destroyers in the Second Torpedo Flotilla.[7]
