U.S.S. R-5 was one of twenty-seven "R" Class submarines completed for the U.S. Navy.

Service

R-5 was commissioned on 15 April, 1919 with Lieutenant Commander Eric L. Barr in command.

There seems to be a discrepancy around 1925.
