Admiral Thomas Philip Walker, D.S.O., Royal Navy, Retired (16 September, 1858 – 27 August, 1932) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Walker was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant from the Victoria and Albert with seniority of 30 August, 1879.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1893.[2]

He was appointed to the Nelson on 23 April, 1896.[3]

Walker was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1898.[4]

He assumed command of the first class protected cruiser Royal Arthur in April 1901.[5]

He served as captain of Formidable from October 1904 until March 1906.[6]

He was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to King Edward VII dated 8 February, 1907, vice Jellicoe.[7]

Walker was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 22 March, 1908, vice Graham.[8] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 8 December, 1903, he was placed on the Retired List on 22 September, 1911,[9] and was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 15 May, 1913.[10]

Great War

On 10 April, 1915, Walker was granted a temporary Commission as Captain in the Royal Naval Reserve.[11]

Walker was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 2 April, 1917.[12]

In recognition of his services "in the prosecution of the war," Walker was appointed a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order on 3 June, 1918.[13]
