Thomas Bostock Hill

Commander Thomas Bostock Hill, (15 February, 1894 – 11 September, 1940) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Appointed to the heavy cruiser H.M.S. Devonshire on on 10 January 1912, he would serve in her through 11 January 1916, when he was appointed to the sweeping sloop Marguerite.[1]

Hill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1916 and served in Marguerite until being ordered to England on 19 September, 1916. His next appointment was in the flotilla leader Abdiel. He served in her until July 1918, and was then assigned to the armoured cruiser Shannon after an appointment to Thistle was cancelled.[2]

Hill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1924.[3]

Hill was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander (retired) on 15 February, 1939.[4]

World War II

Admitted to Plymouth Royal Naval Hospital for a disease of the nervous system on 9 September, 1939.[5]
